Anambra School Infrastructure: Uga Boys Secondary School, Uga

Last Updated: Wednesday, April 2, 2008 6:41 PM

Below are pictures of the current state of infrastructure at one of the popular schools in Anambra State during her early years in development. The Uga boys school in Uga, as many are aware, has educated many of the now popular and prominent indigenes of Anambra State. In its glory days, it saw the best of the best, and received the approipriate attention via the seat government.

The infrastructure in the school has now dilapidated to an eyesour. A pitiful state in deed. Ukpakareports.com paid a visit to the school on March 29, 2008. There were no security people at the gate or anywhere in the school compound.

The first picture below shows the signboard which was donated by Uga Old Boys Port Harcourt branch. This means the Old Boys are trying to do their part.

Below picture shows one of the classrooms. The roofing and ceiling has totally gone to shreds. The walls, as can be seen, have developed very dangerous cracks. Too dangerous for students to occupy. It is hoped that the ministry of education have a plan of action for the many schools in Anambra that fit the same profile as Uga Boy Secondary school.

This picture below shows another classroom block. And the dilapidation is bare and disheartening. The roofing and ceiling have gone, and the windows and doors have virtually gone too. When it rains, it pours inside. The students suffer. And Anambra's future suffers too. Please call the Education Commissioner and tell her. Her number is 08063288708. Her name is Kay Onyechi.

The picture below is also of another classroom block. It speaks for itself.

The picture below show the staff building reserved for the teachers. The roof is intact but the windows aren't. However the building show that the importance is more focused on the teaching staff, and not the students. Please call the Education Commissioner and tell her. Her number is 08063288708. Uga Boys Secondary school did not receive the goodwilled computer donations from the State Governor, and neither did the school received any of the new boreholes that other school received so generously from the State Government. We suppose, the question is why?
