Prof Chukwuma Soludo has vowed to take on the Catholic Church for which he is also a member for working against his governorship ambition last Saturday.
The PDP candidate while addressing his supporters at his campaign office in Awka said that most of his supporters who were Catholics could not vote for him during the election as they were threatened with sanction by the Reverend fathers of their parishes.
Soludo regretted that presiding clerics of the Catholic Church conspired to favour the APGA candidates when in actual sense they should have played the role of fathers.
According to him, “when we are ready we shall take on the Catholic church. When it gets to a time when people can not draw a line to differentiate between religion and politics, you know then that there is trouble.
“It is a dangerous trend that is capable of destroying the church. I am a catholic as well as Obi, and I see no reason why my church should decide to work against me. I will take it up with them when the time comes, because my own Catholicism is not different from that practiced by Peter Obi or other people, Soludo said”
Soludo added that he was surprised that Reverend Fathers were stationed at the various polling centers to monitor where their Catholic members will vote, while those who were bent on voting him were threatened sanctions or denial of the Holy Communion.
Investigations made by Ukpakareports showed that there was a conspiracy by the hierarchy of the Catholic Church to return Obi. It would be recalled that Obi, Soludo, Ekwunife and Ngige are all members of the catholic church, and campaigned extensively in the church soliciting for votes.
