Breaking News: Peter Obi declared winner in a landslide victory

The INEC has declared the incumbent governor of Anambra the winner of the elections in Anambra State. This announcement came 9am through the resident electoral commissioner, Mr. Josiah Uwazuronye in Awka, Anambra.

Peter Obi was said to have won 97,832 of the votes. Chris Ngige won 60,240 of the votes while Charles Soludo won 59,359 of the votes. Governor Peter Obi won 13 out of the 21 LGAs in Anambra.

According to the election observer reports, the elections were relatively free and fair. The violence were minor.

The INEC who had decided to cancel the elections in two LGAs decided to shelve the idea following the extent of landslide by the incumbent governor. The cancelation of the two LGAs would have not affected the result or the outcome of the electon.

Peter Obi is yet to make a public statement on his landslide victory.

More details to come.

Gov. Obi congrats on your re-election inspite of some problems encountered in the electoral process. However, it is really very sad that there was a very low turnout(too many policemen or voter apathy, who knows). My estimates from reading Vanguard newspaper showed that the total number of people that voted in this election was slightly less than 300,000. That was one hell of a low turnout but I guess half bread is better that none, and it seems like there was a remarkable improvement compared to previous election. I trust that Ex-Gov. Ngige and others that have legitimate issues concerning the election conduct will follow due process in resolving their complaints. However, I hope they wouldn't make the situation to be unnecessarily overheated, which can possibly make governing to come to standstill. There are so much problems in our state and Gov. Obi should try and work with them especially Ex-Gov. Ngige to move forward in tackling thess problems ahead.

I am quite thrilled with this new INEC arrangement: announce the electoral results as they arrive. And Ukpakareports.com was the most serious search engine actively following the developments and election results.

BRAIN STORMING ON THE ANAMBRA ELECTION.
As a kid, I witnessed one of the most brutal civil war in the history of mankind. I did not die because of luck and maybe God said it was not my time yet. Today as an adult, I consider that despite all the personal efforts and struggles, that brutal civil war has written my fate. Even with the dollars in one’s pocket, there is a sensation of being trapped in a foreign land, stressed out 24/7 dreaming of home that will never exist. Also, I grew up thinking that Ojukwu my hero, was the blessings that happened to the Ibo race, but recent events are proving that my thought was dead wrong. To all the contenders of the Anambra election, if Peter Obi, as chosen by Ojukwu is the chosen one, give him your support and let’s move on. Do not spend your cash in courts, spend them in checking erosion, and creating jobs etc To you the chosen one Peter Obi, please remember that Uga town also belongs to Anambra state and deserves your attention this time. Uga should not be demonized and neglected simply because Andy Uba happens to be from Uga. If I were Andy Uba, I will serve my people from the center if serving from the state seems impossible. I will show that there could be other Ojukwus than our hero from Nnewi. To Ngige, Saludo, and others, politics is a game and only one winner emerges each time. Serve the people of Anambra from wherever you find yourselves. Please, there should no challenging of the election in court etc. To my hero Ojukwu, be the father of all, for they are all your children. Call all the contenders together and preach the brotherhood that must exist amongst them. Let ANAMBRA be the winner, and not any political party. This is my uncoordinated thought.

@Gerald Ibegbulam
Don't worry. If Ohakim had been performing in Imo state, he could have stood a better chance of a second term from PPA. Now he is a looser. He and INEC had fooled Imo people once, no more in 2011.

MUCH EXPECTED THIS TIME AROUND OBI MUST WORK MUCH HARDER
Gerald Ibegbulem, on 07 Feb 2010 03:02am
INEC! INEC! INEC! How many times did I call you? What a grea idea, if you cancel the 2 LGA, it wouldn't have affected the result. Why didn't you apply the same wisdom in Imo state in 2007. You went ahead and cancelled the people's mandate and instead of being sorry, you have brazenly maintained that you were right.
