PDP to dump Gov. Ikedi Ohakim

Another round of political tremor and/or aftershocks threatens the chief executive office of the Imo State Government.  And it foretells the inevitable sacking of the Imo State Governor from the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]. This is in the light of ongoing litigation brought about by Martin Agbaso [2007 APGA gubernatorial candidate]. Unfortunately, it has served a complex path for the eventual exit of the present Governor out of the PDP and out of the government house.

As gathered from principal sources within the government house in Owerri, the ligation brought against the legitimacy of Governor Ohakim’s victory at the polls of April 28, 2007, has brought the administrative activities at the government house to a near halt - as the direction of the case appears apparent.

In the recent outing of the Supreme Court  [October 2009], it directed the Ohakim team, who had raised motions against the competence of the Appeal Court to adjudicate on the legitimacy of the April 28th 2007 gubernatorial election, to return to the Appeal Court. It ruled that the Appeal Court had the jurisdiction and competence to seat and rule on the case. The Supreme Court further instructed that the hearing and judgment at the Appeal Court be completed by December 2009.

The core of the case rests on INEC’s cancellation of April 14th 2007 gubernatorial election in Imo State without the required court order and/or legal authorization - and its subsequent conduct of the April 28th 2007 repeat elections that brought about victory to the present Governor under the People Progressive Party [PPA] banner. In addition to the illegal cancellation of the April 14th 2007 elections, there were other anomalies to the April 14th 2007 elections.

These anomalies present a potentially noxious quagmire for the Governor - should the Appeal Court rule in favor of Martin Agbaso. This is so because the name of the PDP candidate, Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume was omitted and/or not printed on the ballot papers of April 14th 2007 – of which, Engineer Charles Ugwu’s name was printed as the PDP candidate - thus, robbing voters for Ifeanyi Ararume the constitutional right to cast their vote to the candidate of their choice. And as gathered through legal luminaries, the omission of a legitimate candidate is ground for the nullification of an election by a tribunal court.

For this reason, the problems facing Governor Ikedi Ohakim present a double loaded impact. It is expected for the Appeal Court to rule in December 2009 that the election of April 28th 2007 was illegal and unnecessary since there were insufficient grounds to warrant the cancellation of the April 14th 2007 elections – which many believe Martin Agbaso won. The Appeal Court, as a result will grant victory to Martin Agbaso or order for a new election to be conducted.

But the troubles facing Governor Ohakim is not expected to be merely the preparation of rerun election. Rather, the authentication of April 14th 2007 election is believed to present a myriad of unwanted permutations that would undoubtedly see his exit and/or ejection out of the PDP. Learned sources in the Ohakim legal camp told Ukpakareports.com that the cancellation of April 28th 2007 election and declaration of Agbaso as the winner by the Appeal Court would result to Ifeanyi Ararume returning to the Election Tribunal with a fresh case/petition against the omission of his name on the ballot paper of April 14th 2007 election. The source states that Ararume’s case/petition would undoubtedly result in the nullification of the April 14th 2007 election. Of which the call for a re-run election will be granted by the courts.

In all, the source who spoke from Abuja, notes that it appears inevitable that a re-run election will be the case in Imo State. And when the rerun election comes, all involved political parties will be legally locked-in to field its 2007 gubernatorial candidate again. Meaning, the PDP will be forced to field Ifeanyi Ararume instead of Governor Ikedi Ohakim while PPA will be forced to field Governor Ikedi Ohakim who recently dumped the PPA for PDP. And so, the PDP, PPA and Governor Ikedi Ohakim find themselves locked in a quagmire too potent and too engulfing to wrestle out of.

To this end, political heads in Abuja tell Ukpakareports.com that the three parties have initiated closed door meetings particularly because the involved parties are not desirable of the likely outcome of events, if allowed to unfold naturally. And although details of the meetings remain sketchy, the governor has agreed to do what is necessary to settle Martin Agbaso out of continuing with the litigation. In turn, the Ifeanyi Ararume camp, the likely benefactors of the quagmire, has thrown its support completely behind Martin Agbaso’s effort.

What has Ohakim 2 show after 4yrs. Flowers I may say and removing people 4rm their source of livelihood without any rehabilitations in d name of NEW FACE and CLEAN AND GREEN. a man at his full senses should know that d above mentioned agendas does not bring development which it has not after all said and done as a prove. but when the citizens are empowered and employed, they bring the development collectively with their resources. Ohakim has made himself known as a GRASS CUTTER and we Imolites has refused to associate ourselves with such INSECT. Ohakim is a man whose political VIRGINA has been tasted by all parties. D latest wil b ANPP. I think he would have made a better prostitute if he was a woman. u think if we hear flyover we clap 4 u, wat happened 2 Nwaorie river after all drawings on B-boards. Ohakim hasnothing 2 show. His 2nd name is SORRY.

who is the best, is"t you? you that criticize our governor ikedi, are you faithful to your family? can your family stand and said my father can"t steal or my father is not corrupt, are you good to your community? how many youth or persons have you build up in your community? are you not so conscious of your family packing money for your children and even unborn one,. what we want is solution not criticism, a critic is corrupt, he/she criticize because something refuse to enter his bag. had it been that something enter some of you that is saying anything the want would have given kudos to ohakim.

This is the time for students / youths to see themselves as agent of positive change, pressure groups and not praise singers of some dubious political nitwits. The time is now for the youths to stand up and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" to the politics of the past, its a new DAWN!

For goodness seck, there is no person on the face of this planet, earth by name Ebubedike Ndigbo. This person must be a lunatic, a 419er and a shame to noble Igbo race.

ikedi ohakim made a mistake by joining pdp because that day he joined pdp, his problem started but lets leave all to God
Onyeije Onwuatuegwu, on 21 May 2010 03:05am
Mr Ohakim didn't win an election but won a selection from a committee of friends inseminated by Iwu and delivered by corrupt judges and that's why he fails to know the importance of the electorates himself. He is a very arrogant fool. Please ask him why he deliberately and disgracefully shouted down a blind woman from Imo state in London. This mother flew to London to receive medical help and on hearing that Mr Ohakim was around, she was helped to see Ohakim by friends only to be painly ordered to walk out by a man who crowned himself our governor. He was accompanied to the trip by Chris Asoluka and Chikwem Onuoha. Please find out from these guys whether Mr Ohakim showed any mercy but was as rude as a wild bush animal. Oh God, my people I wish you were there and witness the way Londoners wept.

Your Excellency, your performance in office is speaking for you, 2011 is assured, move ahead.

Ikedi Ohakim is a disgrace to Imo youths. He empowered his 419 colleagues to chase away all good and hard working sons and daughters of imo state with un abetted spate of kidnapping and armed robbery. He should go away so that we will visit him in Jail.
Onyeoshi Imo Ebubedi, on 16 May 2010 05:05pm
@ Ebubedike Ndigbo,
Have you paid your own N2000 job fee to re-elect Ohakim or get job, which one? Some of you people are shameless. You call a spade shovel.
Ebubedike Ndigbo, on 12 May 2010 12:05pm
Ikedi Ohakim is the most glorious event that has happened to Imo State in this election. God ordained him and anybody talking bad against him or his government, is already caused by God. He is God`s own annointed son. He has cleaned up all the mess in Imo State as soon as he arrived there, went further to lay good long term foundation, upon which Imo State will stand and you expect arm robbers to come and take over and start sharing our money with you, no way.

Ikedi Ohakim, is my man any day. He very nice, a good man, very articulate, pragmatic, intelligent, visionary, religious, good pedigree etc etc etc.

A word is enough for a wise man, therefore, your envy, jealousy, hatred, biased and sponsored attacks will rather bring you God`s condemnation.

Be wise.

Thank you.

Ohakim is a desease infecting Imo State. He has no direction. He throws aspertions here and there and makes the state lag behind in every developmental things. Why creating jobs when there are no vacancies? Why asking the unemployed to buy job cards for N2000. Is this not pure fraud? EFCC is watching keenly. Ohakim, remember Ibori
Chikauche, on 26 Apr 2010 09:04am
he is now out with the next form of fraud which he termed 10000 jobs for youths
Ikechuchkwu, on 15 Apr 2010 02:04pm
It seems many never understand that Ohakim is the worst 419 that Imo state have ever had, Ohakim said he is creating job for the Youths of the State, but to apply for the job, jobless students and youths must load their Cell Phone with credit of 2000 Naira. Guess the deal here. 4 1 9 ruling the state with Elephant Contracts.
CHUKWUMA, on 03 Apr 2010 02:04pm
This Ohakim half past 4 eyed man is a foolish 419 idiot, he couldn't succeed as a 419 person in the real world, now instead of serving the people of Imo State with honesty, he has usethis opportunity to see Imo State and her indigines as his MUGU, HIS ONYEOCHA, HIS OYIBO that has paid therefore using his 419 potentials to the highest level in the expense of Imo State people. I tell you one thing though, OHAKIM will not end well in life(mark my words) because when the Gods wants to kill a foolish leader like OHAKIM DE KOBOKO MAN they will first of all make him MAD. You can agree with me that the koboko man is deranged already, what is left is for him to visit the market place where he belongs. He does not deserve a day longer at the Government house or with any political party for that matter. God will hear the prayers of all hurting IMO STATE people Amen. We can't wait for Prince Charles Ohuoha to become our Imo State Governor and resque us from the KOBOKO FOOLISH MAN.
Obianaefo, on 26 Mar 2010 02:03am
OHAKIM SHOULD GO ANY PAY WORKERS SALARY ARREARS, IMPLEMENT THE NEW SALARY FOR DOCTORS AND NURSES TO ENSURE THE GRADUATION OF IMSU MEDICAL STUDENTS. THE STATE UNDER OHAKIM'S WATCH IS AT A STAND STILL. GOD SAVE US
Samuel Nwosu, on 24 Mar 2010 04:03am
I do not have any respect or regard for Ikedi Ohakim. He should go to Hell and be jailed as a criminal after his tenure. Let him truly read what Imo people write about him. He did not win any election in Imo State.
Prof. Dike Quenuxa, on 23 Mar 2010 11:03am
I wonder why PDP should accept him befor. I wish He should just find His way to Jail at d end of His tenure. He's a failed Man.
Kelechi Nbaba, on 21 Mar 2010 12:03am
For Nigeria to develop we need to make correction.
Ohakim did not win Imo State election nor can he we anyone election. Elections are not won through magics. What was his popularity during the April 14 election? Was he among the known candidates for the election? I believe the mass before voting should at one time or the other discus about their candidate. The information from a reliable source was that he entered as candidate for PPA as to see if he can get some Money from Kalu Orji. Let justice prevail

The truth is that the Governor is not doing anything, instead he is governing the state in the pages of newspapers with media hype. How can we trust a governor without direction, is it possible to drege a gutter and get a River ?. These are the questions for our governor. I Thank God the likes of Prince charles Onuoha, a banker with integrity have decleared his ambition to clear the mess in Imo Government House.
James, on 28 Feb 2010 11:02pm
Ohakim is the best thing to happen to Imo State. He has vision and the roadmap to turn Imo State into one of the most developed state but these disgruntled elements are not interested in the state development. Hence, they spent their time and energy rubbishing his image with the hope it will help them get into government house. It will never work.
Paul uzosike, on 28 Feb 2010 11:02pm
let us come together as imo people to reject Ikedi Ohakim and appeal to this God sent young technocrat and banker in the name of prince charles onuoha to please come and rescue imo people as their governor
Chidi nwoko, on 26 Feb 2010 04:02pm
Ohakim must be rejected by both PPA and PDP.If PPA wants to win the eventual re run election they should field an accepted technocrat and a banker of repute in the name of PRINCE CHARLES ONUOHA generally accepted by Imo people now to be their governor. Imo people are tired of people that have no vission we need young and intelligent technocrats to bring the requied change and development in Imo state.
Ogo ndi Imo, on 10 Feb 2010 10:02am
Ecclesiastes said that there is time for everything. "A time for rigging, and a time for justice." "A time to steal and a time to be caught". Ohakim will hand over all that he has stolen from the poor masses in Imo State. He will hand over his looth in folds to the rightful owners.
Chudi Eke, on 08 Feb 2010 10:02am
Ohakim is the worst thing that happened to Imo State. We don't want to know how it came about or who is responsible but his legacy is the introduction of kidnapping in the state which has not only crippled the state economically, but has seen the death of many citizens. It has psychologically damaged our people, particularly those affected directly. Our state and it's citizens are now living in fear as this cancer is spreading like wild fire. There are a lot of people who are of the view that Ohakim himself is using kidnappers to ensure he has a stroll into his second term, as any opposition can be crushed before they even start. This is Ohakim's style of democracy. I hope he remember's Abacha, God Almighty sits on his throne and no sin will be left unpunished.

For his not having faith in God that brought him into power, and fear of losing, which made ohakim, to decamp to PDP, it will be good to throw him out from the Government house, owerri. More so,what annoyed most Nigerians, and particularly me, was the big lair he told against his benefactor and sponsor, Dr. Orji Kalu, as planning to kill him. What arrant nonsense.Ohakim has been an arrogant fellow, but he has taken it to another level since he became Governor. For bitting the finger that fed him, and also for not having faith in God, but in Obansajo, both whom conspired to redicule Kalu, God will fail this time around. He should go. His Government has milked Imo dry, by corrupt practices.

Thanks

Andy Uba knows that upon all his suspicious wealth ,he is no match for either Peter Obi or Ngige ...not to mention Soludo,in this elections; Anambra State politics has advanced ahead of him...his time has passed......simple

A time tasted technocrat and seasoned banker of repute in the person of Prince Charles Chidi Onuoha is the Man devinely chosen to rescue Imo people from the bandwagon of political hawks that have continued to hold the state hostage for years now.

whichever way the judgement goes,we want Ohakim to be thrown out of the Government House. We know that he has started bribing the jugdes as he used to do

this is a very good development that would settle all the unnecessary horse-trading and showcasing 'kidnappers' of victory to actual winners of election.
Cletus Chukwurah, on 10 Nov 2009 02:11pm
I should support Martin Agbaso to continue his fight until actual vadiate is passed by Appeal Court.
